Back for the season? Check the tyres first
Many cars in Akbük spend most of the year parked at a summer house. Tyres lose air even when they aren’t used, sitting in one position can cause temporary flat spots, and rubber valves exposed to the sun harden and crack over the years.
So before you set off on the first drive of the season, look at the tyres. Moving a car on badly under-inflated tyres can crush the sidewalls and damage the tyre from the inside. If they look very soft, leave the car where it is and call us.
What we see most in Akbük
- Soft tyres at the start of the season
- One or more tyres low after months of standing. We set the pressures and check for leaks.
- Sidewall cuts on stony tracks
- Sharp stones on unsurfaced roads can cut a sidewall. Sidewalls can’t be repaired, so we fit your spare.
- Nails on building sites
- Where renovation work is going on, nails and screws in the tread are common and usually repairable.
- Fully loaded holiday cars
- Low pressure plus a heavy load overheats tyres. Use the laden pressure shown on your car’s label.
Common questions
See all questionsDo you come to Akbük at night?
Yes. Akbük is part of our service area and we work 24/7. Call us and we’ll talk through where you are and when we can be there.
My tyres are flat after the winter. Can I drive to a garage?
Please don’t drive on very soft tyres. They need to be brought to the right pressure first and then checked for leaks. We can do that where the car is parked.
